Study of a wide diversity of physical and chemical toxic agents

Published on 13 October 2025
Living organisms are constantly impacted by toxic agents from both natural and anthropic origins. Their mode of action depends whether they are chemical or physical agents. The toxicological effects also greatly vary within a same class of compounds (metals, organic molecules, etc.) depending on the molecular structure. The CIBEST team investigates, from isolated biomolecules to in vitro models, the main features influencing these toxicological properties. The work focuses on human cells. Six main topics are investigated:

Nuclear toxicology
Toxicity of metals
Toxic chemicals
Toxicity of nanomaterials
UV radiations and photobiology
Ionizing radiations and radiobiology
