Tunneling microscope

Published on 28 October 2022
Our institute has been a pioneer in the development of near-field microscopy at very low temperatures. We house a tunneling microscope whose operating temperature is 50 mK. This microscope made important contributions to the transition between superconductivity and the insulating state induced by the disorder. It is now also used to study new 2D materials.
