Research Interests
Structure and Dynamics of small and high mass pi-conjugated (macro)molecules- Transport properties of organic semiconductors- Magnetism in conjugated molecules and polymers.

Principal technics of investigation: X-ray and neutron. SCLC transient measurements. SQUID magnetic measurements.

Short CV
Works in CNRS since 1981. Has studied mostly structure, dynamics and transport properties in organic systems as organic charge transfer salts, poly(phthalocyanine)s, graphite intercalation compounds, fullerenes, conducting polymers as poly(acetylene), poly(thiophene) and mostly during these last years, poly(aniline). The highlights which can be cited concern the evidencing of staging in doped poly(acetylene) with alkali metals by carrying out in situ X-ray diffraction measurements and electrochemical doping. This has been performed during a post-doctoral position in University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia - USA 1998-1990). More recently it has been established that the lattice dynamics in conducting poly(aniline)s protonated with sulfonic acids plays a crucial role in stabilizing the high conducting state.

Experienced user of various techniques as solid state NMR, EPR, X-ray and neutron diffraction measurements, Small Angle X-ray and neutron scattering, incoherent inelastic and quasi-elastic neutron scattering techniques.

Is member of Organizing Committee of European HERCULES course (Director of Studies) and gives a ten hour lesson in Master 2 on Polymers about the methods of investigations of polymers.

Has 110 papers accepted in international reviews and has been invited speaker in 18 international conferences, 7 national conferences and has given 14 invited seminars in 5 different countries.

In between May 2004 and January 2009, he was the head of Laboratoire d'Electronique Moléculaire Organique et Hybride which is a part of SPrAM associated research unity with CEA, CNRS and University J. Fourier of Grenoble I. He is now assisting P. Reiss the new head of the LEMOH. This laboratory is an interdisciplinary one collecting chemists and physicists working together to elaborate new molecules, oligomers, polymers and hybrid systems (organic + inorganic nano-objects as semiconducting nanocrystals or silicon nanowires) dedicatedto (opto)electronic applications. This laboratory is composed of 14 permanent scientists and technicians and welcomes each year between 15 and 20 persons occupying temporary positions as PhD students, post-doc fellows and other trainees.
